Tsavo East Getaway safari
Country: Kenya, Type : Resident packages, Wildlife Adventures Total Days : 3 Tsavo East Getaway safari Day 1 Nairobi – Tsavo East National Park
You will be picked from your residence in Nairobi or pick up point at 8.00am in the morning by our tour van and drive through Mombasa road to Tsavo East National Park.
Tsavo East National Park is a comparatively flat park, in contrast to its sister Tsavo West. But on the other hand, it is larger and the bulk of its northern territory is largely unexplored, one can dare say - "out of bounds". The southern part of the sand river Galana has the necessary infrastructure for visitors including good roads, hotels and lodges. But the northern part is a jungle where few, if any dare tread. Its skyline to the north is lined with the Yatta Plateau, to the East, the river leads you to the Indian Ocean, to the South are sights of the Taita Hills, while to the West just across the main Nairobi-Mombasa highway separating the two massive parks are the iconic hills of Tsavo West National Parks.
You will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. Early afternoon will be spent at leisure in the lodge’s swimming pool or having a walk around the lodge, to be followed by game viewing drive later in the evening. Dinner, entertainment and overnight will be at Meals and overnight at Lodge.
Day 2 – Tsavo East National Park.
After a buffet breakfast in the Camp you will embark on a full day game viewing drive with parked lunch in search for animals not seen the previous day. Tsavo East is a habitat for many wild animals: the dik dik, the rare wild hunting dogs, zebras, giraffes, lions, the lesser kudu, and most significantly the jumbo. It has arguably one of the largest numbers of elephants anywhere in the world. The Livingstone Falls and the palm lined, hippo populated River Galana add to the many attractions of Tsavo East. Dinner, entertainment and overnight will be at Lodge.

Owing to its large population of bird species, the park has earned its fame as the home of the greatest bird spectacle in the world. Beside its magnificent bird life, Lake Nakuru National Park is also a rhino sanctuary and one of the best places in the country to see both black and white rhino. The acacia savanna, which surrounds the lake, is itself beautiful and provides an area particularly good for game viewing.

An optional visit to a Maasai Manyata is an interesting opportunity for you to learn their life. Meals and overnight at Mara West Camp or Similar

Depart Nairobi drive out of the city traversing through the lush Kikuyu highlands before dropping to the Rift Valley floor. You will arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park, located on the floor at around time for lunch. You will enjoy your lunch with a view of the alkaline lake Nakuru, appearing pinkish thus indicating the presence of both the lesser and greater flamingos.
Although the flamingos are the most obvious, other winged inhabitants of the alkaline lake include black-winged stilts, avocets and in the European winter a mass of ruffs.

The Mara is the ancestral home of the ancient warrior people - the Maasai. Fiercely proud and self- reliant, traditionally pastoral nomads, who have clung to their ancient way of life; living in harmony with their environment and the wildlife, together with their cattle, with whom they share a strong, almost mystical bond. An optional visit to a Maasai Manyata is an interesting opportunity for you to learn their life. Meals and overnight at Mara West Camp or Similar

Get introduced to the herbivores, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and the variety of antelopes, the Maasai giraffe and the Burchell zebra. The carnivores are the black mane lion, cheetah and leopard. Flocks of small birds fly around and settle on the rhino and elephant.

Day 03: Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
A whole day of game viewing lies ahead of you.
Before breakfast game drive reveals secrets of the night. As the morning starts out cool, hot coffee, tea and snacks are laid out to partake of before leaving.
You may see lioness or cheetah at a kill or a lion enjoying a kill with a family of cubs waiting to feed. Hyenas and vultures will also be waiting their turn near the carcass. Antelope grazing peacefully, safe in the knowledge that at least for now the predator is well fed. All the animals are having ‘breakfast’. Crocodiles are lying in wait for the animals that will come to the river to drink. Hippos usually leave the water to graze in the late evening or night; the heat of the sun is harmful to their skin so they spend the day swimming or submerged in the shallow water.
After breakfast you may relax in the cool water of the swimming pool supplied with cool drinks by the attentive staff. The afternoon game drive will take the visitor to the leopard’s hideout. He may be asleep in the tree with the kill which he has dragged up with him or he may just be watching his ‘visitors’. One should not under estimate the calm looks the leopard gives. Return to your lodge after watching the spectacular African sunset.

Optional activity - on this day you can enjoy an early balloon ride so as to get the panoramic view of Maasai Mara ( at extra cost) OR meet the locals by taking a cultural visit to the Maasai villages and sample the culture of the Maasai. Meals and overnight at your lodge/camp
